Privacy Policy

Short version: Boredproof has no accounts and asks for no personal details. Your preferences and votes are stored on your own device. When community features are switched on, the site uses an anonymous sign-in that is not tied to your identity. We never sell your data.

Who we are

Information stored on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember settings and make the experience better. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. It includes:

• Your theme (light/dark), language, and NSFW-mode preference.
• Which cards you have already seen, so you don't see repeats.
• Your local votes and reaction choices on cards.
• Cards you have hidden by reporting them, so they stay hidden on this device.
• Whether you have acknowledged the cookie/storage notice.

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Information collected by community features

Some features (global reactions and posting community cards) may be powered by Supabase. When these are enabled, the site creates an anonymous session for you. This session is a random identifier — it is not linked to your name, email, or any personal account. In that case we process:

• An anonymous user identifier (to prevent abuse and rate-limit posting).
• Reactions (👍 / 👎) you submit on cards.
• The content of any community card you choose to post, plus the optional display name you type. Anything you post is public and visible to other visitors. Please don't include personal or identifying information in a submission.
• Reports you file on a card: which card, the reason you picked, and your anonymous identifier. Reports are not visible to other visitors — only to us, so we can review the card and stop the same person reporting it repeatedly.

Community cards are shown to others for a limited time (about 24 hours) and may be removed at our discretion.

Third-party services

Loading the site involves requests to third parties who may receive technical data such as your IP address and browser type:

• Google Fonts — serves the site typeface.
• jsDelivr (CDN) — serves a JavaScript library used by the community features.
• External meme feed — the "Memes" section loads images from a third-party meme service when you use it.
• Supabase — hosts the optional reactions/community-card backend.

We do not control, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices of these third parties.

Cookies and advertising

We currently use only first-party local storage as described above — not traditional tracking cookies. If we introduce advertising in the future, ad providers may set their own cookies or use similar technologies, and we will update this policy and our consent notice before that happens.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool. It counts page views and basic, aggregated usage (such as referrer and country) without setting cookies, storing personal data, or tracking you across other websites.

Age requirements

This site is not intended for children under 13. The optional NSFW mode contains adult humor intended for users aged 18 or older. Do not enable NSFW mode if you are under 18.

Your choices

• Clear your browser's site data to remove everything stored locally.
• Don't post community cards if you prefer not to submit any content.
• Use your browser or device privacy controls to limit third-party requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
